In case you missed it, FFG Twitter gifted us another Vigilance unit spoiler on Monday- followed by a batch of Command spoilers on the official FFG stream Wednesday. I don’t know about you, but coming from Star Wars Destiny, I am so grateful for the steady stream of FFG spoilers this time around! You can see the shift in how they are handling Star Wars: Unlimited vs. previous games.
As usual, here are our first thoughts and impressions based on the current card pool!

On Monday, FFG posted this Vigilance unit on Twitter and Instagram
Justin – This card is interesting, because there are limited options currently in the card pool for drawing cards and this is also our first look at the Grit keyword on a non-leader card. You’ll want to play this card on Round 5 or 6 (depending on your leader) to get the draw- but that’s also the point where you’re less likely to find a weak unit to hit. Turning on the grit is going to be situational at that point. Jury’s still out on this card, but I definitely see it being a spicy card in sealed/draft play.
Tyler – I want to put this card in a Blue Hero deck and protect it with Sentinels. The problem with that is Rugged Survivors competes with Chewie in the 5-spot. Maybe in mono-blue when the card pool is larger? We don’t really have the cards to test a Villian Blue deck yet, but I’ll be waiting to give it a try.

Justin – Holy Mackerel! We finally got a big beef unit on the Hero side, and Home One is super spicy. Spreading Restore out to the board is a strong swing effect, but let’s not gloss over the “When Played” effect. Off the top of my head, playing a free Fleet Lieutenant, Rogue Operative, Yoda, Leia Organa, or the next card below could be great additional value depending on the situation. Overall, a fan of this card, and it feels worthy of the Legendary status.
Tyler – WOW. Amazing value. If we assume we get an on-curve, 3-cost unit with the ability, then we’re getting a 7/7 with Restore for 5. That blows the cost curve out of the water before we even consider the additional Restore. This is plenty of reason to build Hero Green ramp. I also stated in a previous article that I’d want a “summon a unit” unit to consider General Dodonna– well, we’ve got it now. (Note: We’re 2-for-2 on OP legendaries.)

Justin – It’s a Trap! In a vacuum, Home One and Ackbar feel like a very strong combo. Outside of that, I feel like you’re generally only going to get 2 damage on the play ability unless you’re in a win-more situation. At 3 cost, 1/4 with Restore 1 doesn’t feel as good, but is likely not doing enough that your opponent might leave it alone for a few rounds to get more value. I need to get some gameplay with him, but my initial thought is he’s doing too many things okay, as opposed to doing one or two really well.
Tyler – Ackbar’s stats and the Restore ability are run-of-the-mill 2-cost value, so how useful he is depends on whether he consistently generates 3 or more damage with his ability. If it’s the latter, he’ll be a standby of Hero Green.

Justin – More tutors! I already see myself slotting this into my Tarkin Aggro deck. Searching 8/44 or less cards gives you pretty good odds to find 2 space units most of the time. Without much card draw in this game so far, getting a net extra card in hand for 2 seems great. I think there will be lots of green space unit decks rocking 3 of.
Tyler – Totally agree with Justin. The designers have already hinted that some of the best aggro decks in the set 1 meta were space-based. A card that can pull multiple cheap ships into hand is $$$!

Justin – The big question: will mono decks be viable? If we get more cards like Command/Vigilance within double aspects, I can see it happening. But, if all we’re gaining is one strong card, I’m not sure it’s worth giving up a second color to build with. Of course, we ask ourselves: would I pay 6 for this card? The answer might be yes! It’s never a dead card like some of the other ramp cards late game (Resupply, DJ Deathstar) so, it’s likely we see more +2 play than mono decks early on. With more sets and cards released though, the game designers might make mono an option. Just have to wait and see at what point that becomes enticing enough!
Tyler – I love this card at 4, but that play is completely dependent on how the cardpool fills out. Here’s hoping, since mono decks are interesting design space! My initial take was it might be playable at 6, but now I’m less confident. By the time you can afford it, the ramp is likely out of the question and the strike function is hampered by only targeting non-uniques. Given those limitations, 6-cost value is probably out of reach.
That’s it for this week! Which of these cards are you most excited for? Do you agree or disagree with our thoughts?
The next stream from FFG will be on September 20th, where they go over booster packs and rarity for the official product! With no confirmed spoilers on the horizon, fingers crossed we’ll see some more Content Creator spoilers next week!
If any more spoilers drop today, we’ll edit this article later today to add them in.
