Happy Monday! Time to go through the cards that were spoiled in the prior week and give our thoughts and first impressions.
The first 3 cards were spoiled on YouTube by Joey from Crossworld TCG

Justin – Blue definitely love to drop some cheap sustain on their midrange units. With all the annoying Sentinel options, I do believe this will see play. While you’ll generally wish you had Entrenched instead, it is a nice secondary option if you want to focus on a few really strong Sentinel options as opposed to just more Sentinel units in the deck.
Tyler – I’m a big sucker for healing mechanics in card games. The idea of one durable unit soaking up damage and dominating has long been my White Whale. I phase it like that because it rarely works out that way- there’s just too many ways to deal with single units. The good news for Resilient is that it’s cheap, so it’s not a large investment that could be Waylayed or Vanquished. I’m skeptical that healing will be a build-around strategy, as we’ve yet to find a deck that can make good use of the Surgical Droid, but this card is a step in the right direction.

Justin – Important to note, Piett buffs cards with printed cost 6 or higher. So, if you played Chewbacca, for example, in your Villain Yellow deck, even though he cost 7 resources to play (due to the aspect penalty), he would not get the ambush bonus. You’re probably slotting Piett into every Villain Green Ramp/Control deck.
Tyler – I wasn’t too high on Fett’s Firespray until I saw this card. Rules note: you get to choose which order “when/after played” triggers occur. Therefore, you can play the Firespray, kill a unit with the ambush, then trigger the “ready” ability to strike again on a later turn. That double-whammy combo has me wanting to try both in a yellow/green ASAP.

Justin – Pay 1 to replace this card with another Unit. If the card pool turns out to be pretty weak, then its possible you would want to run this to be a 4th, 5th, and 6th option of the better units in your deck. Ultimately I don’t expect to this much in the Competitive Constructive meta, but likely a good option in Limited play.
Tyler – The Johnny in me sees this as a combo tool. Anything that helps get out key units consistently raises the possibility of combo deck success. I don’t see anything worth slotting this in for currently, but the card pool will get there.

This card was spoiled by the What A Piece of Junk podcast!
Justin – First impression: “What’s this top ISB agent doing without a villain tag!?” Thematically, I love seeing the idea of Imperial cards working on the hero side and vice versa. With the way unique cards work in this game, if you played a 2nd copy of Yularen you would actually get to heal 2 (even though you have to defeat one of them)- cool little play if you need health in a pinch. Currently, I don’t see him making hero green decks due to the strong Rebel tribe vibes, but he seems like a solid fit for villain green.
Tyler – I was floored by the amount of debate on the Discord about what icons this guy should have. I’m an OG SW fan, so when somebody says “Clone Wars”, I kinda tune out. Gameplay-wise, the ability is solid. He’s firmly above curve if you drop more than one Command unit per turn. I hope we continue to see more support for mono-color decks.

This card was shared by FFG on their twitter and instagram.
Justin – The spiciest base we’ve seen so far, I definitely like this way more more than Security Complex in the world of 25 HP Epic Action bases. I can definitely see this being an interesting decision space in deckbuilding for any deck looking to add green with the base. You’re counting on this epic action to give you spot control and a bit of tempo to either stay ahead or catch back up, and when played right, should easily be worth the 5 HP. I don’t think it is an auto-include as your green base, but always worth considering.
Interesting to note that Fett’s Firespray is the ultimate value play with this card. Due to “When Played” abilities and the Ambush keyword being in the same timing window, you, as the active player, can choose which goes first. So, resolve Ambush first getting you a free attack, then resolve the “When Played” ability to ready Fett’s Firespray again for another action. Spicy Boom!
Tyler – Concur with Justin’s spice level. The value of Firespray is really top-shelf with this and Piett.

Holocron Gaming revealed this card on Thursday
Justin – This is an easy trip to Value town! 4/4 for 5 feels bad, but then you add in Ambush and high probability of at least 1 card draw and we’re back above curve. Important to note, it says “When another unique unit” meaning your own unique units being defeated would also trigger Kallus’ card draw. I really like this card and plan to slot him into a lot of Hero and Villain green decks! Thematically, I love that they allowed Kallus to be played as a hero or villain.
Tyler – Yeah, the card draw ability is costed pretty aggressively. If you can keep him alive long enough to get two draws, he’s absolute money. This might be an opportunity for a card like Resilient to shine. Given his mid-game cost point, I’m having trouble imagining a Green deck you wouldn’t put him in.

And to cap off the week, FFG dropped this banger on Friday!
Justin – Well, there’s a new aggro sheriff in town! Sabine comes out during Round 3 as a unit! You can even pair her with Green and deploy her Round 2 thanks to Resupply! Realistically, Sabine will play as a Burn aggro deck that stops resourcing cards after Round 3 and goes all in on dropping two 1-3 cost cards each round, blasting through the opponent. Note that Sabine’s Leader ability hits your base as well, but her Unit does not. We haven’t seen a single card for Red Hero until this, so we can’t gauge her power level yet, but I see her being an early aggro staple.
Tyler – I like how FFG telegraphs what deck type each leader belongs in through their resource threshold. Four resources? “I’m an aggro deck!” Seven resources? “Let’s control!” Excited to see what the <4 or >7 end of that spectrum looks like. As Justin said, it’s hard to judge since she’s literally the first Hero/Red card we’ve seen, but the ability is solid. The keyword hooks interest me as well- maybe this means we get Spectre or Mandalorian tribal effects?
