Happy Monday! Time to go through the cards spoiled in the prior week and share our first impressions.
FFG revealed the first card on Twitter and Instagram.

Justin – I love the dynamics of upgrades. Lots of upside that can be negated by strong cards like Waylay/Vanquish. This could go in Tarkin/Red Aggro. Play TIE Round 1 and boost it with Tarkin; boost it again in Round 2 and then drop this for a 6/5 TIE fighter! Provided the bearing unit also sticks around, you get repeatable removal. Glad to see Vehicles getting love!
Tyler – I’ve gotta show love for the upgrade templating. That you can slide it under the unit and still see all the text is a win. Functionally, this is another solid 2-drop for Tarkin. The value of Waylay keeps going up! I don’t see a situation where you’d use this on a ground unit yet, but excited about the design space there.

Revealed during the FFG Booster pack stream. We already posted our first thoughts/impressions here.

Revealed by TCG Player.
Justin – Ironically, the first deck I’m slotting this in… my Sabine/Yellow deck. Thank you FFG for weird unique rules that let me play all the Sabines! This is the ideal Aggro Round 1 drop, pumping out 3 damage from the get-go with the flexibility to cleanly take a 1-health unit off the board or pop a shield before swinging. Hero Red decks will certainly slot in 3 of these through the first couple sets.
Tyler – I’ll save my rant about the “unique” rules for elsewhere. The aggro potential here is obvious, and it’s only augmented by the self-protection ability she has. So, she can swing and survive to the next turn. Beyond aggro, what interests me is the keywords. The Spectres all have 3+ keywords, so they enable a wide range of cards like Dodonna, Binds and whatever ends up using the Mandolorian and Jedi keywords. Excited to see what’s down the road for those.

Justin – Speaking of Sabine/Yellow, I’ll take 3 of these too! Love the design of this card, a solid-statted 3-drop with a fantastic ability every time Ezra survives an attack! There’re fun shenanigans available if you use Energy Conversion Lab to give Ezra ambush, or the card you play from the top of your deck turns out to have ambush. Love this card, and likely a 3-of in Hero/yellow decks.
Interesting to note the 3 Spectre units we have now seen are all different aspects. There’s been speculation that a Hera Syndulla leader could prevent aspect penalties on other spectre cards which would be pretty interesting, otherwise I’m not sure we see our spectre buddies together much outside of Limited (which also seems unlikely given they’re all uncommon).
Tyler – In the Star Wars LCG, that Fantasy Flight made, the Spectre units circumvented color-spotting requirements. Since the designers seem pretty keen to lean on previous FFG designs, I’d be surprised if they didn’t so some of that with the Spectre team in this game. I like the design of this card in that Ezra encourages you to attack with him early to get the most out of the top-deck ability- apt for a youthful character!
