Happy Monday! Thanks to an official FFG stream and some more Content Creator reveals, it was a fairly big week of reveals!
FFG posted the last spoiler of the Cunning Month social media poll on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram

Justin – Important to note, this also exhausts all of your units in the lane you choose. Many people were missing that in their initial card reactions. Personally, I hate that this card exists. In a vacuum, its a hard counter if a one-lane YOLO deck were to ever take flight. It likely won’t see much competitive play outside of sideboards, unless one-lane decks start showing up in the meta.
Tyler – This isn’t the kind of card that makes me excited, either. It could be broken, or it could be utility/sideboard card that rarely sees play. The possibility of the former shouldn’t be underrated- while this is ostensibly a tool to stop one-lane decks, there’s nothing stopping said decks from playing it to get ahead in their race to the finish. Outmaneuver could lull players into a false sense of sense of security against one-lane aggro.
Jayson – Lots of hubbub about this one this week, which was weird, because I think it’s kind of bad? Give me Asteroid Sanctuary‘s bonus shield, or NGTMD‘s extra round of lockout for the biggest threat. Tyler’s also got a VERY astute observation above that it theoretically helps one-lane decks just as much as it hurts them. This card’s ceiling is gonna be very hard to engineer with any kind of consistency. I think it’s very likely a dud.
The next 2 cards were revealed by the TowerNumberNine on his YouTube channel!

Justin – The only place I expect to see this played is in Chewbacca decks that look to abuse the Shielded keyword by giving him Sentinel. There’s an argument it would be playable in a villain green deck as well as a good Ambush target for Energy Conversion Lab (you can choose to ambush in and resolve the attack, then give this unit a shield), but it will likely be too cute to be common.
Tyler – What a missed opportunity for the Rebel trait! If he did have that, he’d be tremendously more useful. As is, he can’t catch the synergy with Dodonna or Medal Ceremony that would have made him a deckbuilding staple. As is, the stats and keywords aren’t bad, and he supports Chewie who needs the help.
Jayson – I think this is a super strong design. Cards like this make me so excited to play SWU in limited formats like draft. Like many single color cards, it probably isn’t quite strong enough to make a constructed list, but it’s like quantifiably not terrible. It’s a really nice sweet spot for “set filler” type cards like this one. Cool card, probably just a “Rebel” trait away from seeing constructed play.

Justin – A 2 cost 1/4 is a stat line we’ve seen a decent amount that is usually followed by a strong ability. Raid 2 is fairly strong giving us an effective 3/4 attacking unit on the ground if we can keep the ability online. It may turn out to be a tough ability to keep online early in the game when you’re really wanting to play your 2 cost units. Jury’s still out on this Insurgent.
Tyler – This guy will find play. First, because he has a solid stat line for aggro decks. Second, because the Trooper and Rebel traits have many uses. I see this being played with IG, Sabine, Leia and Grand Inquisitor.
Jayson – I’m kinda into it, actually? This has the makings of being one of our better single-color cards. The kicker seems pretty easy to keep online. Leaders count! I also really like most units that hit the 4 health threshold cheaply, as that’s the point where it gets really annoying to trade into them most of the time.
The next 2 cards were shown on the official FFG stream where designers Tyler Parrott and Jeremy Zwirn dueled it out (We also got the english version of Jedi Lightsaber)!

Justin – Arguably the most consistent 2-cost unit in the game, this is an auto-include in every Hero Command deck! While some people scoff at cards with no card text, a 3/3 Rebel for 2 is pretty insane value. I will happily jam this card to value town all day.
Tyler – A normal 2-cost will have 5 stat points and a low-value keyword (say Overwhelm). BM trades the keyword for an extra stat point which is a big step up in power level. Combine that with his useful Rebel and Trooper keywords and you’ve got the makings of a Hero/Green staple. Dope art to boot!
Jayson – I expected some cards like this one from the minute we saw Leia Leader. I love him so much. Me and Squids McKenzie are gonna be all over prerelease weekend making absolute fools of ourselves with Medal Ceremony. What’s for dinner, Mom? It’s MATH.

Justin – AT LAST! I’ll finally be able to convince Tyler to end his shenanigans and cut Overwhelming Barrage from his Hero/Green decks. Luke is the big, blue Hero bomb everyone was looking for, and I can’t wait to run him. This card along with Jedi Lightsaber below make a strong case for Luke rising to the top of the current cardpool meta!
Tyler – Luke is one of the more pushed cards in the game. A 7-cost 7/7 with Restore 2 would be on curve. So, Luke gains an extra point of Restore and his entire “When Played” by sacrificing one stat point. Given that his ability will typically kill a 3+ cost unit, that’s HUGE value. Add in that he has the powerful Rebel and Force traits, and I don’t see how this guy doesn’t go in every Hero/Blue deck.
Jayson – Our Legendary Luke Skywalker – Jedi Knight for the game’s first set leaves a lot to be desired. Why would you make the first Luke in a game that’s going to last for decades something so underwhelming? Why would you make him kind of like Vader but worse? And why give all the good cards to Villain anyway so that Luke and Vader decks aren’t even actually balanced against each other? Just feels like a bit of a miss to me, though I’m sure collectors will have a field day. Moreover, I personally love Luke so much that I’ll play him nearly exclusively for 2 entire sets, consistently losing out at top-tables because I refuse to run Captain Phasma or FN-2199 or whoever the hell. I just wish that affection for the character had a strong design to back it up.
EDITOR’S NOTE: We explained to Jayson that SWU is actually a different game. He’s now seen the correct Luke card. He says it’s “pretty good!”.

Thoughts posted in last weeks article when the French version was posted.
Lastly Xander passed the hi-res version of Echo Base (which we had seen previously on a Gamegenic ad) to the Discord/Facebook Community mods to share!

Justin – While potentially the most lackluster spoiler for many, I am personally excited for this reveal. This confirms the suspicions that we will get a hero/villainy version of each 30 hp common base for set 1, which is great for thematic players! It will also help give some variety to the 5,000 bases we will crack open in packs, and the hyperspace versions of the bases will be sweet! I hope one day FFG will lean into the trait design of bases, enabling Snowspeeders +1 power if your base is located on Hoth for example.
Tyler – Thematic win! I’m looking forward to the full-art as well. The jury is still out on the usefulness of 30-health bases for constructed play, but it’ll be fun in draft at the very least.
Jayson – …We’re doing takes on these?
That’s it for last week’s spoilers! What cards are you most excited about? Are there any specific archetypes you’ve been enjoying in the cards revealed?
