Normally on Fridays we scour the holonet and post a detailed list of all the Content put out for the game in the past week. Instead, going forward we’d like to point you over to SWUHolocron who does a much better job than us keeping track of all this content posted daily! You can check this link for videos and this link for articles! They also have a comprehensive list of all Content Creators that have posted content for Star Wars Unlimited found here. There’s a ton of other great resources on their site that I encourage you to look around!
Where’s that leave us for Fridays? Well I do like having a weekly post dedicated to the community, so going forward we aim to highlight a Content Creator, Resource Creator or Community Member! Since this was a pretty quick decision, I hit up my friends over at the Golden Dice Podcast to kick us off!
The Golden Dice Podcast
The Golden Dice Podcast is made up of 3 core members, JustJack (not actually named Jack..), Scuttlebutt (Brian), and Flockton (Tyler). We had a few questions that we thought would help you get to know them and their content!
Tell us about your team! How long have you known each other, what other games have you played together?
- Jack – Entirely too long on both accounts. Brian and I have known each other since kindergarten and Flock and I met during our Destiny days. We’ve done a lot of games together like Destiny, FaB, Runeterra, Shatterpoint, MCP, Marvel Champs and the list goes on and on. Heck we even all play soccer together now.
- Brian – I’ve known Jack for over 20 years, and flock for about 7, I’ve played too many games to count with Jack, but most notably SW Destiny, and the same with Flock
- Flock – I met Jack and Brian in 2017, games: Destiny, WoW, Valorant
What kind of content do you make for Star Wars Unlimited?
We plan to have a lot of different content but our top two will be our podcast and weekly gameplay videos. The podcast will ramp up to weekly as we get closer to the release and our gameplay videos will always be a mix of us playing and recording our weeklies at our LGS. On top of that we will have deck techs, some articles, budget ideas on how to buy into the game, etc. Really hope any player can come to our content and find something they like.
What do you envision your average viewers as? Competitive? Casual? Collector?
- Jack – Likely a mix as we did in Destiny as well. We had an awesome casual crowd that we met and saw at events. People loved to chat with us about our decks, jank we can play, and memes from our recent streams. We also had a solid competitive edge as we did in Destiny. We had Galactic Qualifier wins, Regional wins, top cut at worlds and all that came down to us playtesting and having a solid group. We definitely lean more casual though and I guess collectors will like us since we will buy A LOT of product.
- Brian- Probably more on the casual side, as our gameplay videos are a healthy mix, and our podcasts range from serious to outright goofy
- Flock – A good mix of competitive and casual with interest in spice/jank and having fun.
What kind of CCG experience do each of you come from?
- Jack – Getting into CCGs is more of a recent experience for me in the last 10 years or so. I played a little bit of Magic and Pokemon when I was in high school but not enough to remember any cards. My first CCG I dove into was Star Wars Destiny. When that was canceled I played a lot of Runeterra during Covid, play Flesh and Blood for about a year and now currently play One Piece and Lorcana while I patiently wait for March.
- Brian – I started out with Star Wars Destiny, and then when that died, may it rest in peace, I took a long break. I picked up FaB for a while playing mostly Prism, and then decided to move on. I haven’t really played anything seriously after that, but have been dabbling in Lorcana and One Piece. I have been enjoying One Piece more than Lorcana, but nothing compares to my desire for the release of SWU.
- Flock – First experience was with Pokémon as a kid but I never knew how to play, I just collected the cards. The only real CCG I played was Destiny.
What is your favorite thing about making content for Star Wars Unlimited so far?
- Jack – Normally I do not enjoy playing with spoilers as the meta always changes but it has been a blast to show up each week with an updated deck and test how certain cards work together. Deck building is really developing even with 75 or so cards missing. Doing all that and then having a drink and playing some games with Flock and Brian has made making content easy for us to enjoy.
- Brian- Experimenting with each deck combo and getting hype for release. Bouncing ideas off of Jack and Flock have also been some of the most entertaining conversations that I have been a part of in recent years.
- Flock – Getting together in person weekly to play a fun game with friends.
What do you hope for content to look like for you once the game releases?
- Jack – I really hope we can offer multiple outlets each week. I plan to keep developing our podcast segments, keep improving our weekly gameplay videos, do more content like our Luke Color Pie video, deeper competitive deck techs and meta calls for tournaments. The more we dive in the more we also learn as well so I am up for tackling all types of content and topics! We’ve also been lucky with having people like Jeremy Zwirn and Tyler Parrott on the podcast so we would love to continue developing a connection to FFG as we go as well!
- Brian- More gameplay with actual cards, potential deck techs, and the occasional article on a grab bag of topics
- Flock – Continue with gameplay and “casting couch” where we talk about the current state of the game.
What are each of you most excited about for Star Wars Unlimited?
- Jack – Legit everything. I cannot wait to do pre-release at my LGS, to open my six boxes on the 8th, to do my first weekly and get some alt arts, prep for Store Showdowns and everything beyond! This game is looking amazing and really excited to see some familiar faces from Destiny but also form new relationships! Some of my favorite memories from the Destiny community was going to events and sharing some drinks (which make the memories hard to remember I guess?).
- Brian- Same as flock, traveling, tournaments, hopefully seeing old connections from SW Destiny, and of course ripping many many packs in search of those sweeeeet showcases
- Flock – I am excited to travel and do tournaments. I have great memories of doing it for Destiny and look forward to it with SWU.
Here’s some recent examples for each of their types of content to check out:
That’s it for today. We hope you got a good feel for the boys from Golden Dice, and you will enjoy their content as much as we do! You can check out their YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, or blog by clicking each of those links.
