Happy Friday! This is the last time we get to greet everyone on a Friday morning before we all crack packs and get to finally play Star Wars Unlimited! To celebrate this fantastic occassion, we invited one of the most positive people I know in the community to answer some questions (and drag his brother along)!
This Friday we take a look at our friends from Roll On Gaming, Kevin and Corwin! Pictured at top, Kevin on left, Producer Pops in the middle, and Corwin on the right.

Tell us about your yourselves! What are your hobbies? What do you enjoy outside of the TCG world?
We are two brothers raised on nerd culture and sports. Our parents were massive Star Wars fans, so that has played a huge part in our lives, especially mine (Kevin). Aside from that we enjoy going to games and movies as a family, and meeting up for Board Game Sundays at Corwin’s house.
What is your background/experience in the TCG world?
Our first card game growing up was Magic: The Gathering, but that held Corwin’s attention much longer than mine. There were a bunch of games over the years, both Star Wars and otherwise, but what really got us into playing at a consistent level was Star Was: Destiny. We bonded as brothers over SWD and attended a bunch of events together, which led us to where we are today.
Tell us about how each of you got into Star Wars Unlimited. What drew you to Star Wars Unlimited as a game?
It was easier for me – you show me a Star Wars game, I’m going to play it. But as the game has been revealed, I’ve continued to be more excited about everything SWU has to offer, from the art style to the gameplay mechanics to the collectability. Corwin took a bit more convincing because he wasn’t sure he was ready to dive headfirst into another game the way we did previously. But everything that has transpired since last May has him just as excited as I am for March 8th, so we’re counting the days.
You guys were also Content Creators with Star Wars Destiny! What has been the biggest difference in that experience vs. Content Creation for Star Wars Unlimited?
The biggest personal difference for us is that we were an audio-only podcast for Destiny. When SWU was announced, the beauty of the cards and how the medium has progressed since 2018 (when we started creating content for SWD) led us in the direction of a YouTube-first offering, while still serving audio listeners.
In terms of the content itself, it’s been thrilling and challenging at the same time to be in on the “ground floor” before the game releases. The task of finding ways to separate yourself from the plethora of other awesome creators can be daunting when everyone is talking about the same things, but I hope that we have provided some unique insights along the way. There’s definitely more to come on the channel, so we hope you’ll stay tuned!
What’s one card design from Star Wars Destiny you’d love to see in Star Wars Unlimited?
This is a tricky one, because a lot of the abilities of my favorite Destiny cards seem to have been adapted to fit the mold of SWU. If you know me, though, you’ll know that I’m a huge fan of Darth Vader, and I played a ton with the Terror To Behold version of Vader from Across The Galaxy. That Vader had an ability where, if you remove his dice, you can use a Power Action and discard a card to roll those dice back into the pool. I would be intrigued by a high-cost unit in SWU that had protection against being exhausted, to go hand-in-hand with that Vader ability, even as a one-time use. It would really feel imposing to face that down across the table!
What kind of content do you make for Star Wars Unlimited?
Currently our videos have been primarily focused on the news of SWU – reviewing new card reveals, sharing our thoughts on FFG livestreams and discussing any new gameplay updates. I also have a pet project on our channel called The Thrawnicles, where I walk through different decks that feature the Grand Admiral Thrawn leader. That series will likely continue once the game releases. I have also been partnering with Deploy Your Leader Gaming to write articles about Star Wars: Unlimited, which are posted on that site – you can check those out here!
What do you envision your average viewers as? Competitive? Casual? Collector? Etc
I envision our average viewers as beautiful, intelligent, and wonderful players…oh, that’s not quite what you meant. But it’s still true! To answer your real question, though, I think our brand of content allows for all players to be served. Corwin is more logical and thinks more with a competitive mind, so he can provide insight into that side of the game. I get excited and/or distracted by shiny pretty things when it comes to Star Wars, and I can only hope that resonates with the more casual players just looking to have fun playing a Star Wars game.
What is your favorite thing about making content for SWU so far?
This will be a fairly common answer throughout the content creation community, but it’s honestly the community we get to engage with. Getting the chance to meet and interact with subscribers, followers, other creators and anyone who finds us mildly interesting has given us the opportunity to share in the joy and anticipation that SWU has given all of us. We can’t wait to meet even more people in person as we attend local Weekly Play nights, Store Showdowns and more!
What do you hope for content to look like for you once the game releases?
I can only hope it continues to serve the Star Wars: Unlimited community as best as we can! There are some plans for launch that I won’t share fully, but I’ve been working behind the scenes to try and set up some fun ways to showcase (no pun intended) the new cards I’ll finally be able to open. Again, stay tuned!
What are your goals in Star Wars Unlimited as a player & Content Creator?
I’d like to think I don’t have delusions of grandeur as a player. Having never had much success in the competitive scene of Star Wars: Destiny, I’d like to tell you that I’ll be content making some top cuts and holding my own in tournaments. I’d REALLY like to tell you that… but on some level, I think everyone would be happy winning SOMETHING, so maybe I’d be satisfied taking down a Store Showdown or Planetary Qualifier in my time.
With content creation, my goals are a lot simpler. I want to look at Roll On Gaming and be able to say confidently that we are putting our best foot forward, connecting with players and being as authentic as we can be. If we do that, I’ll be proud of whatever the outcome may be.
What is your process for building a brand new deck in Star Wars Unlimited?
Do it as often as humanly possible! I think deckbuilding is my absolute favorite part of TCGs, and it’s so fun to build decks for SWU. I generally will start with a leader I’m excited for (usually a Villainy leader) and then look at a way I can combine it with a unit that I’m excited for. Once I’ve done that, I’ll build the list around those two fixed points. I’m excited to see if that approach works out!
Where do you land on purchasing product, singles to build the competitive decks or full playsets? Do you plan on hunting any of the special variant cards?
All of the above! I love how accessible SWU appears to be from the jump. Building a “budget” deck in this game seems like it can still be very effective competitively, and there are also powerful legendaries that can turn the tide of the game. Combine those two extremes with everything in between and Star Wars: Unlimited has something for every collector and player. Personally, I’m a completionist… though I don’t know if my wallet can handle trying to track down EVERY variant of every card in every set, I’m going to be pursuing a full playset regardless and seeing how many variants show up along the way.
Once the game releases, in an ideal world, how often do you see yourself playing draft or sealed vs constructed games?
My schedule is atypical of the norm, so if I can get to one Weekly Play per week, I’ll be very satisfied. Whatever form that takes, be it limited or Premier formats, I’m going to be thrilled to participate and stock up on those cool Weekly Play packs. But it’s about availability for me, so I won’t be too picky with the format.
What are you most excited about for SWU?
I’ve said this before but it bears repeating. When Star Wars: Destiny was canceled – something that I had devoted countless hours/days/weeks/months/years to, as a player and creator – there was a hole left in my life that I was honestly unable to fill. I tried other games, I tried collecting other things, I tried not having a hobby, but SWD was really the complete package for me. Now that Star Wars: Unlimited is here, that hole has been filled to overflowing. It’s going to be so great to share in the love of Star Wars games with the community once again, to continue to make videos about that passion, and connect with friends old and new along the way.
What has been your favorite community experience in Star Wars Unlimited thus far?
It’s hard to beat traveling to Indianapolis for 15 hours just to get in some demo games of Star Wars: Unlimited at Gen Con, meet most of the dev team and interview three awesome FFG members. That was an experience I’ll cherish for as long as my tiny brain remembers it. But I’ve also been so delighted to see how for the most part, every like-minded individual on Discord or in livestream chats or on social media has been overwhelmingly positive and welcoming about a game that hasn’t even been released yet. That positivity will go a long way for the overall health of our community, and I’m honored to be a part of it.
Any last thoughts you’d like to share?
Don’t let Inception pull the blast shield over your eyes – Grand Admiral Thrawn’s time will come!
