Welcome to our first weekly update of the Gauntlet (Meta Tier List)!
The TLDR version of our changes for this week:
1. Krennic/Green dropped to tier 2 due to being supplanted by Iden/Green as the premier control list in the meta.
2. Thrawn climbed into tier 2 as the community identified him as the best potential pairing with Superlaser Blast.
TTS Season 0.5 Tournament Continues
There were several Top 16 matches played in the TTI Season 0.5 Top Cut Tournament. You can find the bracket for the event here, and the decklists here. The 2nd round results largely support our initial tier 1 rankings featuring Boba/Green, Iden/Green and Sabine. Of interest are a Yellow Mono Boba and a Vader deck- if either were to win, we’d need to consider elevating those builds to tier 1.
Krennic or Iden?
Last week, we had both of these decks (with Green) listed in our Tier1. We’re lowering Krennic to Tier 2 as Iden has proved to be the more reliable pairing. Iden brings slightly more healing and combat power to bear. You can see this most directly in the results of the TTS tournament where Iden defeated Krennic 2-0 in the first round.
Thrawn Emerges
The community has a lively thread for Thrawn deckbuilding happening in the Official SWU Discord. The result this week was a build brought to us by BobbySapphire. As stated in his video, this probably isn’t a tier 1 build, but it looks fun and effective so we’re giving it a boost in our rankings.

Based Energy Lab
One of the more troubling trends we’re seeing in deckbuilding is the dominance of Energy Conversion Lab. It’s a lynchpin of the top 3 meta decks at the moment (Boba/Green, Krennic/Green, and Sabine/Green). ECL enables bonkers plays with cards like Fett’s Firespray, Guerilla Attack Pod, and Steadfast Battalion. Given how ECL dominates deckbuilding, enables borderline broken combos, and has zero available counters, we’ve got our eye on it for a potential balance change from the designers down the road.
What We’re Looking For
There are several leaders we hope will find their meta niche and shake up the current Green-dominated landscape. Han and Grand Inquisitor are two of my personal favorites. We’d also like to see more data on Hera now that she has access to The Ghost. I suspect that deck may now be Tier 2, but we haven’t had time to test it. If you’ve got playtime with any of those leaders, let us know and we can assimilate that data for inclusion in our lists next week.
