Today, we’re rolling out our first Meta Snapshot for Star Wars: Unlimited constructed play incorporating Set 2, Shadows of the Galaxy. We’re really excited about this moment as it’s the culmination of months of work by our team to play and learn as much as we can about Set 2. If you want to skip straight to the list, you’ll find it permanently on our website here. Otherwise, stick around for a summary of the changes from Set 2.

Who’s Sticking Around?
Several staples of the Spark of Rebellion meta aren’t going anywhere.
First on that list is Boba Fett, Collecting the Bounty. He remains the best leader in the game, clearly over the curve versus other leaders. To cement his dominance, he got new cards to boost his archetypes from specific buffs like Boba Fett’s Armor, to more general assistance for Villain/Yellow like 4-LOM, Bazine Netal, and Lurking TIE Phantom. Given this embarrassment of riches, Boba begins the season at the top of the Tempo, Midrange and Hard Control lanes.
Second, Sabine is still the queen of aggro, where all three of her builds clog the lane. While we got a Villain aggro leader in the form of Kylo Ren, the consensus seems to be that Sabine remains the more reliable leader for this archetype. Moving up in this department is the Mono Red variant which received Bo Katan and Chaos of War – both of which look to be staples of this build.
Third, four of Set 1’s more reliable leaders held their existing spots. They are Krennic (Green), Vader (Green), Han (Green), and Iden (Green/Blue). Each of these decks received key cards that should keep them competitive in Set 2. Villian blue now has The Client and Supreme Leader Snoke, in addition to mono Blue tools like Fell the Dragon and Rival’s Fall. Vader received additional ramp from Price on Your Head that it can now use to access Krayt Dragon faster. Meanwhile on the hero side, Han got access to a powerful new ramp tool in Spark of Hope.
Who’s Fallen Off?
Several leaders that were playable at Set 1’s margins dropped off our list after failing to get significant help from Set 2. These are Luke/Green, Chirrut/Red, and Leia/Red. None of these hero archetypes, based around Shields, Force, and Rebels, respectively, got much support from a set focused on smugglers and bounty hunters. Also leaving our list is the OG of Hard Control- Vader/Blue. While this list made a splash by winning the Florida $4K in Set 1, it never seemed to repeat that success after becoming a known quantity. Our take is that the more recent Blue Villain builds (Iden, Boba) are better equipped in this area.
Who’s New to the Scene?
The buzziest leader to enter the meta in Set 2 is Han Solo, Worth the Risk. There are a dizzying array of potential combos with this leader that are still to be explored. For now, we’re adding the powerful Red/Green combo to our list to see if more iterations evolve.
Taking over the mantle of Force-first Blue/Red/Hero from Chirrut is Rey. Rey brings to the archetype some additional raw power as well as a strong early game through her buff ability. Combined with the hard discard tools of Pillage and Force Throw, she looks to be a solid competitor.
Qi’Ra is joining the trio of Blue/Green/Villain leaders in the soft control/ramp lane. Krennic, Iden and Qi’Ra all have their individual strengths and weaknesses within the same solid archetype. Since we can’t effectively parse the differences this early in the meta, we’re listing them all.
Finally, and probably our spiciest meta take is the addition of Tarkin/Yellow. Tarkin never quite achieved playability in the Spark of Rebellion competitive meta, but the addition of powerful new space tools like Lurking TIE Phantom, Mercenary Gunship, and Triple Dark Raid have us taking another look. Our initial take is that together these can produce a powerful tempo deck.
What’s on the Watch List?
The cardpool and leader combinations for Set 2 will be even broader than Set 1, so it’s fully possible that a deck we haven’t seen much of in testing creeps up as the meta develops. A short list of possibilities include: Grand Inquisitor combo decks, Emperor Palpatine control, Jabba the Hutt and Kylo Ren aggro.
