Well if you’ve made it this far, then we must first make sure you saw today’s leader reveal that just went up!

Justin – Well, well, well… our first leader that deploys as a normal Action: instead of an Epic Action! The possibilities here are interesting, especially when your head starts to go to the bases from Set 3 that have “When you deploy a leader” abilities that you can suddenly do multiple times a game! I’m not sure how good Trench will be competitively, but he’s definitely going to be a lot of fun! Twin Suns enjoyers will definitely want to take a look at this guy!
Tyler – Any repeatable ability has more utility the farther into the game you go and the more times you can pull it off. So maybe that means Blue is the best pairing for him? I would love to repeatedly get the windfall that is Droid Manufactory, but that falls into the “loses to Sabine 110% of the time” category of decks. Right now, there’s not much discard pile synergy in the game (Reprocess is about it), but if we get more in the future, Trench could shine!
Jayson – I love seeing FFG play with the established formula. Trench is another reminder that Leader design is pretty limitless. Trench gets some filtering for top end cards on his front side and his Leader ability is a sort of limitless supply of 3/4/5 units that pitch and draw a card, are immune to lots of removal, and don’t cost a card from hand. Seems pretty solid to me, though like Sheev, he’s gonna take some time to figure out.
Now to get into our cards!

Justin – Aspectless cards are usually generic, weaker cards since they have the powerful versatility of being included in any deck. This Swarming Vulture Droid is far boring though! While I’m not sure you’ll ever want all 15 of these bad boys swarming your deck and draws, but I like the potential to have more than 3! A buff when you have multiple copies definitely tempts me to run as many as possible.
Will this be the first card banned in Twin Suns?
Tyler – I’ve been pining for better droid options to pull in my Dooku/Yellow deck and this certainly fits the bill! With Triple Dark Raid and JtL Invisible Hand we’re cookin’. 3 or 4 of these babies on the board and it’s lights out very quickly.
Jayson – Hilarious. All of us know someone at our local meta who’s going to see this and instantly start building the 15 Vulture deck whether it’s good or not. Go ahead. Picture them. You may not like it, but that is what ideal performance looks like.

Justin – There’s definitely spicy implications of running this with Admiral Trench (it is his ship after all), but I’m definitely most excited about the power of being able to treat this as a 5 cost unit at any time if you’re leader is Separatist! This should allow you to get it out on 5 resources often before you deploy Trench at 6 to take advantage of the ability. The Triple Dark Raid Separatist deck is really starting to come together with this and the new Invisible Hand!
Tyler – This, Invisible Hand and Resupply Carrier make up an All-Star trio for Triple Dark Raid. Not sure you’d want this in a deck where you weren’t playing a Separatist leader, but that’s just fine by me. Cards with narrow, but powerful, applications are exactly what we want for constructed play!
Jayson – Piett certainly likes seeing a relatively lower cost Capital ship- while he may not be Separatist he’s got his own discount mechanism going. And of course, he’s not the only leader who thinks this is pretty cool. The free mini-Waylay on a big body gives this a decent ceiling, but the sequencing is gonna be pretty restricted since it has to be out first. We’ll see if it pans out in the various gameplans that will deem it worth trying. Actions on 5R and 6R may just be too tight to pull it off.
