This week is the first week of organized play for Jump to Lightspeed and we’re making two additions and one swap on the snapshot based on what we’re seeing.

One of the most certain things in curating this list is that the moment I drop a list off the snapshot, that list will inevitably win a tournament the next week, punishing me for my disbelief. So it is this week with Palpatine/Yellow, which we’re re-adding. It won regional/sector prep tournaments in Germany and Washington. Since we have to wait another week for those to start, that’s the highest quality metadata we have. For now, the winners want to keep their tech under wraps, so the snapshot list is mostly a set 3 continuation.

Second change this week is adding Gar Saxon to the aggro lane. Gar managed to win a PQ in the season 3 meta, and carried that energy forward by receiving a ton of power cards from JtL- Krennic, Iden, Boba and the underrated Outer Rim Outlaws. Playtime over the past week has convinced us that this deck is a real threat- one with a solid gameplan against meta boogeyman, Jango.

Finally, the meta is tremendously aggro/tempo focused right now- to the point where people are calling Han1/Yellow a “control” deck. So, nailing down what is a viable hard control list (ala Bossk/Blue last meta) is a real challenge. We’re not 100% confident that such a list is viable right now, but the best candidate appears to be a Thrawn deck paired with either yellow or Blue. Today we’re tentatively swapping Bossk for Thrawn Yellow. Bossk is a non-bo with the best new control card of set 4 (No Glory, Only Results) and yellow seems an indispensable color for dealing with Jango (Commandeer, Electromagnetic Pulse.) More to follow in the hard control space…

We’ll get cracking next week when Sector Qualifiers begin in Milan!
