This week, we’re doing the hardest thing we’ve ever had to do at Garbage Rollers, which is say farewell to one of our own. For personal reasons, Jayson (@ImpossibleGerman) is having to step down from our team and take an indefinite break from content creation. While we’d love to have him back, we know work and family life have to be the priority.
With his departure, this is a great time to highlight some of fantastic content that Jayson has produced over the last two years. Below are three articles I thought were must-reads and some of the best content we, here at GarbageRollers, have ever produced. If you haven’t seen these already, I implore you to give them a read now!

What’s Going On With Leaders? | A Quick Reflection On Leader Design In SWU
This article is the foundation of our ongoing assessments of leader playability in SWU. Jayson called perfectly the attributes and types of mechanics good and bad leaders have. This is an article we come back to over and over again!

Cantina Decks, Episode 2: A Set Of Four Budget Decks From “Shadows Of The Galaxy”
Jayson’s “Cantina Decks” series has proved enormously popular as a resource for any player who wants to throw together a cut-rate deck for teaching or local play. The model is one we want to expand on in the future.

Dinner With Jim: Welcoming The New Guard At Fantasy Flight Games
This is one of earliest articles Jayson wrote for us and is probably still his opus. It’s based on his live, hours-long discussion with Jim Cartwright at the SWU pre-release celebration at the Mall of America in February 2024. At the time, it wasn’t clear at all if SWU was going to be a commercial success, or if FFG could successfully distance itself from past missteps in games like Star Wars: Destiny. The night chronicled here is where SWU became a winner in the eyes of the content creator community and Jayson’s retelling is a masterful one!
