Good morning! We had the pleasure of being sent two copies of the AdmiralStackbar Unofficial Deckbox & Token set from Zachary’s store on Etsy. We were not compensated for this review, other than receiving these 2 sets that we will be giving away!

If you prefer the audio/visual over text, check out our video version of the review below. If you don’t, I still recommend checking out the end of the video for details on how to enter the giveaway!

Initial Thoughts & Takeaways

I’m generally not a fan of 3d printed tokens, but I’m honestly solidly impressed with the quality of these. My prior experience with 3d printed tokens has been cheap material & paint that degraded over time. While I haven’t spent more than a week with these, they are different colors of printed material (so no paint) and seem to be holding up well!

The deckbox also seems to be of solid, thoughtful construction and is a very compact tournament experience with everything you need in a small box. The token trays all slot in snuggly to the deckbox, and the window displaying your leader along with the magnetic aspect icons on the front are a fun touch.

As I said above, I generally find 3d printed products to be hit or miss on quality. With this product, a lot of thoughtfulness went into the design as the deckbox itself feels very sturdy and I couldn’t find any joints or sides that felt thin and breakable.

The tokens also feel solid. They don’t have any heft to them, but outside of the ridiculous design that is aurbits tokens, I’m not sure I’ve ever found that feel in custom tokens of any material. While I could probably snap a damage token if I put my strength into it, I don’t see them running into any unintended damage.

Solid build quality!

This was one of the categories I was most worried about, as dark colored tokens can often lack the contrast to be highly visible on trading cards. Good news is I didn’t find that to be an issue here. With the vibrant colors outlining the tokens and filling in the numbers, the tokens are easily recognizable across the table. The closest thing might be Epic actions on a lighter card (Cunning, Heroic), but they were still visible enough in my opinion to not cause any alarms.

No issues here.

I’ve mostly hit on this above, but the tokens feel like a more premium version of a normal 3d printed token, while the deckboxes feel very solid and well thought out. The magnets holding the lid within the slot of the deckbox on top help maintain the integrity of the box, and it doesn’t feel like a cheap, breakable box.

Good feel.

This is a deckbox I’d love to rock at a tournament. With the top window displaying my Leader and the 3 slots for my aspect tokens, it’s a really cool package! The tokens have good visual clarity, and the included initiative token has the thematic Jedi symbol. It’s not the translucent vibrant look you can get from acrylic tokens, but it still pops on the table pretty well.

Good looks.

This is the category I struggle the most with on this set. Coming in at a regular price of $60, it seems pretty solid in a vacuum of providing you a deckbox and token set in one package for a good price. The problem is the direct competition it has in the more premium GameGenic deck pod (in the aspect color of your choice) and acrylic token set which combine for a cost of just $5 more.

Since Zachary offers free shipping, if you can catch his deckbox on sale (like it currently is for 10% off at $54), I think you’re potentially finding a better value. When we’re only talking $5 difference at regular price though, I’d have a hard time recommending this over the Gamegenic route unless you just prefer 3d printed products or prefer the overall look of AdmiralStackbar to the Gamegenic stuff.

Overall Recommendation

I think the AdmiralStackbar Deckbox & Token set is a solid product, and I would recommend it if it looks appealing to you for the price. Here’s the link for the store again if you would like to check it out.
