Good afternoon! In case you missed it, FFG did a livestream discussing upcoming Organized Play News. You can re-watch the stream VOD here, or read the summary below!

Season 0

The first season of competitive Organized Play will be called Season 0, running through the first Galactic Championship in Summer 2025. There will be no points system for Season 0, as the Galactic Championship will be open invite (up to event capacity). More info to come in the following months.

Winners of Planetary Qualifiers will get an auto invite to Day 2 of the Galactic Championship. FFG will message winners of PQs with more info after their wins.

Planetary Qualifiers

These will be run worldwide. They start in October and the amount ran will triple-quadruple depending on your location starting in Set 3. In Set 3 they expect to run over 150 Planetary Qualifiers. As soon as a Planetary Qualifier kit comes in, Xander will unbox it on a livestream.

TEC (Tournament Software)

FFG has been listening to feedback and working on improving the software. However, they are working on finalizing a contract with another TCG software that is commonly used that will be taking the place of TEC. TEC will be phased out before Season 0 starts in October with PQs.

Judge Program

They are partnering with a company called Cascade Games (FFG has worked with many times before) to run the judge program. Sign-up to receive more info when it launches on the Cascade website here.

Tournament Rules

In case you missed it, these were updated last week. The new version can be found here. This is a living document that will be updated infrequently. FFG asks that we continue to give feedback through Season 0. Notable updates below.

  • Top Cut Rounds are now 75 mins
  • Added Tiebreakers for Top Cut
  • Deck lists are no longer open list for Swiss
  • Playmat/Sleeve rule that was announced on an earlier stream is now in the document.

Website

Patch notes will be going up for the website later today.

Conventions

SDCC is next week, convention packs can be purchased at booth 2913E. Gencon is the following week, and lots of the FFG team will be there. There’s still event spots open for Twin Suns pods, and the In-Flight Report will feature SWU news. News for how to obtain the convention packs at Gencon will be published soon.

Weekly OP Packs

They concluded the stream by opening some Weekly OP Packs.

  • Xander – Razor Crest, Incinerator Trooper, Foil remnant Reserves
  • Alicia – Night Owl Skirmisher, Mando Rifle, Cloud-Rider
  • Tyler – Take Captive, Razor Crest, Foil IG-11

  1. can someone elaborate more on the playmat/sleeve rule mentioned in a previous stream?

    1. Previously, FFG had said that only officially licensed Gamegenic products and solid color sleeves would be allowed at tournaments. They thankfully reversed on that but hadn’t put it in an official document until now.
