This weekend was the first major tournament since Jango Fett, Triple Dark Raid, and DJ were suspended- the Sector Qualifier in Richmond, Virgina. The results are available in detail from SWU Competitive Hub. Sabine/ECL took the crown, which is not totally surprising given that its primary predators keep getting banned. All the decks that made top 8 were already on our meta snapshot as well.

Perhaps the most interesting thread line across the event was the increasing prevalence of Data Vault as the base of choice for Green decks. While opinions of the base were mixed on release, it’s now clear that going to 60 cards is a worthwhile tradeoff for 3 health- especially in midrange and ramp decks that need a leg up on aggro.

Since we captured the primary players in the meta already with our snapshot, this week is seeing only removals.

The first removal is Admiral Piett, who failed to make even top 64 at the Richmond event. Our opinion of Piett has been on a pretty steep downward trajectory over the past few weeks and the time has come to admit that he’s likely too fair to win a tournament.

The second removal is Kazuda Xiono who only had one deck make it to the Richmond top 64. Kaz is fast- but apparently not fast enough to make up for his questionable survivability. The maindeck presence of the leader-defeating Bamboozle (even in Villain decks!) likely has something to do with the poor showing of him and other pilot leaders. Boba Fett is now the only Jump to Lightspeed leader left on the snapshot.

  1. JTL Vader had similar if slightly better numbers than JTL Boba if I’m reading the data correctly. Any reason he isn’t included over Boba?

    1. Both are on the fringes of competitive play. With the Snapshot, we try to show not only what’s powerful, but what players are likely to encounter in their metas. So, in the case of Boba versus Vader, Boba’s popularity has earned him a space on the snapshot while Vader is still fairly uncommon. However, either of the builds could enter/leave the Snapshot in the next couple weeks depending on results, regardless of popularity.
